Earl Park Fall Festival

A horseshoe tournament will be held during the Earl Park Fall Festival on Monday of Labor Day weekend. Qualifications for the tournament will begin at 8:30 AM at the horseshoe pits located on the North side of the Cardinal Roost. Individuals who wish to participate in qualifications must be at least 18 years of age and pay a fee of $1. Thirty-two people will qualify to play in the final horseshoe tournament. The fee to play in the tournament is $3 and tournament competition begins at 10:30 AM.

The horseshoe tournament is divided into 4 classes with 8 pitchers per class. An individual’s performance during qualifications will rank them into the appropriate A, B, C, or D class. All participants will play each person within their own class. Therefore, individuals will pitch at least 7 games over the course of the horseshoe tournament. Pitchers in the A and B classes play to 30 points. Pitchers in the C and D classes play to 21 points. The National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America rules are followed.

A trophy is awarded to the first and second place person in each class. There is also a trophy given for the highest qualifier. Any questions regarding the horseshoe tournament may be directed to chairpersons, Larry Eason, at (219) 474-3236.
